Places to dine out in Cork City
Ruen Thai Restaurant
You could be forgiven, on first entering Ruen Thai Restaurant on Patrick Street, for thinking that you had been transported to some old Thai fishing-village, certainly the nautical theme, Asian-styled, is very much in evidence here. The attentive Thai staff with welcoming smiles who greet you as you walk in do little to dispel the idea of a foreign enclave in the middle of Cork. Once you become accustomed to the bazaar-like interior though, Ruen Thai restaurant is a warm and comforting place, which serves up some of the best Thai food to be had in Cork. Catering equally well for vegetarians and meat-eaters, Ruen Thai does a great Pad Thai noodle dish either with or without meat. They’re also happy to cater for other food preferences, and the staff know exactly what each menu item contains, making it easier for those with allergies. And with prices ranging from 15-20 euro for a main course in the evenings, it’s relatively cheap to get an excellent Thai meal. Highly recommended for lovers of Thai food.
